Wow. I got really pissed off after reading this. I was a Girl Scout from elementary school to middle school. I can honestly say that homosexuality was never promoted. In our meetings, we did things like organize camping events, fundraisers, projects to do with the younger girls as well as the community. There was a lot of community service going on. We may have had a discussion on safe sex ONCE. Most of the time, we did the activities I previously mentioned.
Oh, and Girl Scouts is not a front for Planned Parenthood! It was NEVER discussed. Girl Scouts do mostly community service. I don't know where that comes in. Are these things just made up? Anyone who knows anything knows that "facts" like this are not true. I most certainly hope that people do not take this seriously. Parents should know better than to believe such lies about a historic organization. It was founded to empower young girls (among other things like creating a safe outlet for girls). Why does no one else think of these things? Why is an organization that is meant to better young girls coming under attack by a man? Men aren't allowed to go to meetings so how can he judge? I just don't get it.

Rep. DICK Morris may want to recheck the "facts" he looked up online. Not only is Michelle Obama the honorary president but so has EVERY First Lady since Lou Henry Hoover; this includes such conservative ladies as Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush. FORTY ONE PERCENT of American either love or like the organization, making it THE eighth out of all charity/non-profits in the largest study by Chronicles of Charity.
ReplyDeleteNow as for this misogynistic views...lets look at Girl Scouts of the USA's actual charter, never having been one myself. 1. THEY DO NOT PROMOTE ANY TYPE OF SEXUALITY, WHETHER STRAIGHT, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER OR GAY. In no way form or matter are sexual activities allowed (and why would they between such young ladies? O.o) between members and scout leaders are not to speak of the issue. In 2011's The Girl Scouts of Colorado stated that a t-girl could not be penalized or ousted from her group due to her appearance and perception as female. :-) :-)
2. TO SERVE G-D (OR MY FAITH, ALLAH OR THE UNIVERSE). Yes, while GSotUSA isn't Christian based it isn't AGAINST the Bible, its just inclusive to all girls that may join to hang out with their friends, or maybe their parents want them to learn more outdoor activities and skills without having to pay erroneous camp rates (trust me, THAT I would know about ;-) $100/wk per child :-P ). This allows ANY girl of any creed, colour, religion, etc get together and learn and teach each other when they might otherwise not.
3. ABORTION ADVOCATES!!! In NOOOO way does the Girl Scouts of America OR Planned Parenthood wash the others' hands. Yes, in 2004 a Waco, Texas troop DID sponser an event by Planned Parenthood WITHOUT sending money NOR sending over troops over there. It was just to get the educational supplies out there to young females.
Now, I'm not saying that the American Heritage Girls isn't a good organization. What I will say is that the girls won't get the type of round-about religious education (from being around those of different faiths) or opinions differing from that of the Bible. There are SOOOO many different opinions out there, why should a child be indoctrined into a Bible Camp? :-/
