Single parents are abusive to children?!

This got me really worked up. A Republican Wisconsin senator wants to label single parents as child abusers. WHAT THE HELL?! Seriously, this is just ridiculous. Does this guy know how hard it is for those people?
I'd like to propose a few more questions. Firstly, does this guy really know how many people would be affected by such a thing? There are single parents from every walk of life, probably including some fellow politicians. I bet they would not be happy about this. Single parent families have almost become the norm. Just because relationships don't work out doesn't mean that a child is being abused. Yes, it's mentally very tough for some children but they grow up to be perfectly functioning people. This label would ruin the lives of so many people.
Secondly, how is it okay to label a widow(er) as a child abuser? That should never be allowed. I have a friend who's father passed away and her mother is disabled and still managed to care for her and her sister. She told me what it was like during that part of her life. It's hard enough to lose a spouse/parent. If such a person had the label of 'child abuser,' they would not be able to care for a child.
I would also like to pose this question, is it safe to say that there is some sort of war against women going on? First there was the birth control thing, now this. Most single parents are women. Courts usually give custody to the mothers and have the fathers make time to see them. I feel that there is some sort of Republican attach on women. I'm sorry if this offends anyone but that is my opinion. I don't really understand why these men feel that they know what's best for a woman.
