Lysistrate...Alive and Well. :-D :-D Aristophanes, I applaud you!

For those that may not know the full meaning of my title a little background.  Lysistrate is the Greek comedy (although men might not find it that way tehe) written by the ballsy playwright Aristophanes.  At its premier the Peloponnesian War was in its TWENTIETH year and understandably the women were upset over their men brutally fighting one another.  Until one woman got an idea for peace.

That method was the withholding of sex.  ALL sexual activities were suddenly withheld THROUGHOUT Grecian cities as women holed up inside the acropolis as men returned with fire and pitchforks.  While able to water the men down (in nature and temper) Lysistrate tells of her husband how she wants him to do the woman's work from now on and showing the magistrate how unkind it is for men to be married at any age while a woman is seen as "ripe" for a short period of time.  She even says how unfair it is for olden, childless "maids" to age alone while their husbands continue their fights.   When the leading men are "tortured" (with bulging erections hidden under tunics) do they finally sit down to compromise and end the war.  It all ends happily.

While Rita Irene Von Essen might have not stopped wars I think it IS important what she did stop.  While flipping through television and seeing her husband's colleague spew out about MANDATING transvaginal ultrasounds for women seeking abortions she told her husband she was too tired to have sex.  Did this have an impact on how he thought?  Did he see that it was unfair that women would have to see the parasitic embryo growing in them in cases of rape or incest?  Unwanted (while not by violent means but incidents or stupidity)? O.o  Maybe he saw the emotional pain it would cause some and thus a deal was reached making the ultrasound OPTIONAL.

So, Rita Irene Von Essen, I hope this reaches you and I wish you all the luck and to get the word out to other Republican wives, girlfriends, mistresses, secret boyfriends, significient others, etc. :-D :-D  You make me proud to be a woman!

Thank you so much!,
