The People Have Spoken! Vasetomy and Obama's Compromise.

Last week, as the Republicans attempted to make a religious brew-ha-ha over Obama's compromise to allow insurance coverage of birth control to religious affiliations the people were speaking their opinions.  In a country-wide polling FIFTY FOUR percent of Americans approved of the compromise, surprisingly with FIFTY TWO percent of MEN wanting it.  Perhaps because they realize its an extra hurdle for them to lose a little sensation with condoms or that condoms are an everyday expense while contraceptives would be free and daily.  No more late-night runs trying to find a Rite-Aid or gas station open for business. ;-) ;-)  Meanwhile, in 55% of those polled BOTH APPROVE Planned Parenthood AND abortion rights.  This cannot ONLY be amongst those "non-religious" as Catholics since the 1960's have steered away from the Church on this issue.  In fact, some religious sects (and I truly apologize for not having all facts without my Roe v. Wade book on hand) while not HAPPY with the act of abortion understand its need, especially in those cases of rape and incest, something that SOME Republicans (ahem, Sanitorum Rick :-/) don't seem to understand.  In fact, the approval rating for Planned Parenthood goes up to EIGHTY PERCENT when it is told that federal funding does not go towards abortions.

In other news of female health Georgian Republican Doug "Stopkilling" McKillip introduced House Bill 954 as a Neonatal perception prevention.  No where in the medical texts does it say that an embryo feels pain and in fact while caring for premature infants it is shown that THEY do not feel pain until the 29th or 30th week and in fact is surrounded by anestesizing and sedatives in the womb.  If that is to be seen as true with the medical enzymes surrounding fetuses than there is no reason why a woman should be concerned for its "feeling of pain" as Republicans would like us to believe.  :-/

To counterbalence this, the female Democratic representatives have set up a measure to stop any and all non-medical vasectomies.  Why SHOULD a man be denied of fatherhood if it is "G-D's will?"  Why should HE have the birth control method that is less painless and safer than a woman having her tubes tied?  How would a MAN feel if he was told he could not get a vasectomy or anal exam for his prostate? O.o  I'm pretty sure they would NOT stand for it and women AND men should reunite to keep everybody safe and healthy.  Please, if you are reading this AND in the state of Georgia contact your OWN local representative to say NO to House Bill 954 and show the government what the PEOPLE THINK AND FEEL!!!

  1. The obvious virtues of Dr. Paul aside, I'd like to chime in once again and address an important point (that I've seen mentioned a few times) for your readers:
The prostate does participate in the mechanics of reproduction, but it's examined for a reason that is usually unrelated to reproduction itself. It happens to be composed of very slow-growing tissue that is 'fueled' by testosterone. Over time (typically 50 to 70 years) that prolonged, low-level stimulation may lead to harmless swelling (benign prostatic hyperplasia) or cancer. Prostate exams are our best method to detect those problems and prevent them from progressing.
Thus, prostate exams are not really related to the discussions about contraception, surgical sterility, or the whole pro-life/pro-choice debate. Even if the country was one hundred percent 'totalitarianistically' (not a real word) pro-life, prostate exams would still exist.

  2. To GWB,

I was simply trying to tie in that if Planned Parenthood was shut down there would be a PLETHORA of non-abortion, life-saving procedures halted. If there was lets say a Man's Health Organization where men got vasectomies, prostate exams, lung and heart exams and a femalecentric government in play it would be at risk for denying women the right to choose children or not. Mind you, a vasectomy can be overturned BUT of course I'm saying in the most extreme...so, yeah, I didn't mean to confuse, I was just trying to make a connection. My apologies.

    Hope I explained well,

  3. No apology necessary at all!
I understand the connection you're trying to make, but all of those life-saving procedures you listed are also already covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most other third-party insurance agencies as preventative care. So to say that shutting down Planned Parenthood will result in the cessation of those programs is ostensibly TRUE; the implication, however, was that the government will no longer continue to offer those services at all (whether you actually meant it that way or not).
Good on you two for voicing your opinions on public and political discourse - just remember that the line separating informed, objective debate from the typical MSM hyperbolic rhetoric is very thin and oft overstepped. Opinions are opinions and facts are facts, and some of us (your humble readers) might not want to have to constantly untangle one from the other.
Keep up the good work, and please take my ridiculous and palaverous ruminations with a grain of salt.
